Grande Italia
Dark Roast
The darkest, boldest roast we offer. This Venetian style Italian Roast harkens back to the Italian Renaissance, when coffee was dark roasted, politics were fraught with intrigue, and Caffés were a place of revolution.
$15.50/lb

In the 1700s, when coffee beans were imported to Italy by ship the beans would often become moldy from the long, salty voyage. To compensate and still make a profit, roasters would over-roast the beans, literally burning the mold away. This unique taste has been refined over the centuries and has become synonymous with the Italian Roast.
